THE WOODBRIDGE GROUP OF CHURCHES
This church is part of the Woodbridge Group of Churches, being formed as a result of the reorganisation of the North Wiltshire Deanery.
The Revd Guy Oswald has served faithfully as vicar of Great Somerford, Little Somerford, Seagry, and Corston with Rodbourne for many years and is retiring at the end of May 2009.
The Woodbridge Group of Churches will then formally come into being in July 2009, and will comprise the parishes of Lea and Cleverton, Garsdon, Brinkworth, Dauntsey, Great Somerford and Little Somerford. Ministry in the new group will be shared by Revd. Richard East and Revd Derek Ormston, assisted by various lay people.
The inaugural service will be held in St Giles Church, Lea, at 11.00 am on 5 July 2009 and will be addressed by the Rt Rev Dr Lee Rayfield, Bishop of Swindon. The service will be followed by lunch.
The parishes are currently working together to ensure a smooth transition from the three present benefice groupings.
As part of this growing together process, the church service on the 5th Sunday in the month will normally be a combined service ofr all six parishes.
TRINITY COLLEGE, BRISTOL

THE WOODBRIDGE GROUP OF CHURCHES
Context based training of theological students
Trinity College, Bristol started Rural Context Based Training (CBT) for theological students in the Woodbridge area in September 2008, to complement context based training already in progress in a number of areas in Bristol.
A group of students are based in the Woodbridge Area (Lea, Garsdon, the Somerfords, Brinkworth and Dauntsey parishes), to work with the churches to gain practical experience in rural ministry as part of their training at Trinity, where they attend lectures, tutorials and other college-based activities. They live in the Woodbridge area during this part of their training. They are already joining in with a variety of church and village based activities.
This is a long term project and the team will change year by year as students complete their training with Trinity.
Jonathan, Theresa, Georgina and Verity Lowe are living in Pembroke Green, Lea.
Ed and Jo Northey are living in Brinkworth. Jo will be ordained Deacon in June 2009, and Ed and Jo will be moving to Swindon as Jo takes up her new post as curate.
Liz Hassal is remaining in Bristol for family reasons, but joins us in the church group for her Sunday placements from the college.
